    David,
Im trying to remember where I read that the last bison taken in near the Cascades was near Ft. Colville in the early 1800s, need to find my notes, probably in some Hudson Bay papers. Yes, teh nez perce had extensive bison hunting practices and trade goods flowing to and from “Buffalo Country”, please see 1855 Buffalo Peace Treaty negotiated by Isaac Stevens with several plains peoples and the Nez Perce at teh Mouth of the Judith River. I seen a map of the treaty I contained “common use” areas for hunting buffalo. Proved very instructive in laying the groundwork on the Interior Columbia Salish and Sahaptian tribes now hunting buffalo around Yellowstone.
    Just thought I would share…
    Best regards, appreciate your work!
